From Classroom to Global Stage

From Classroom to Global Stage: How Two Academia Students Are Reimagining Nepal’s Tourism

When we talk about innovation in Nepal, the conversation often shifts to technology hubs in Kathmandu or global startups with international funding. But sometimes, students who dare to look at their country differently are the ones who come up with the most exciting ideas right inside a college classroom.

That is precisely what happened when Brisha Bajracharya and Mahesh Khatri, BCA students at Academia, took their project to the International Education Conclave and presented a vision that merges technology, gaming, and Nepal’s rich tourism landscape into a single, compelling experience.

What Did They Build?

At the heart of their project is a simple but powerful idea: what if exploring Nepal felt like playing a game?

Nepal is one of the most tourism-rich countries in the world, home to eight of the ten tallest mountains on Earth, ancient temples, diverse cultures, and trekking routes that draw adventurers from every corner of the globe. Yet for many potential visitors, discovering these experiences can feel overwhelming or inaccessible.

Brisha and Mahesh set out to change that. Their project gamifies the tourism sector of Nepal, transforming the experience of discovering destinations, planning trips, and learning about local culture into an interactive, engaging, and rewarding journey. Through game mechanics such as challenges, rewards, and exploration milestones, their platform aims to make Nepal’s tourism not just accessible but genuinely fun to navigate.

Why This Matters for Students Like You

If you are a student wondering whether the skills you are building in your BCA program have real-world application, this project is your answer.

Brisha and Mahesh did not wait to graduate. They did not wait for permission or a perfect opportunity. They identified a real problem, applied their technical knowledge, and built something meaningful — then took it to an international platform.

This is what a BCA education looks like in action: combining programming, design thinking, and an understanding of real-world industries to create solutions that matter.

Their work sits at the intersection of several growing fields:

  • EdTech and gamification — using game design principles to change behavior and increase engagement
  • Tourism technology — a sector that is rapidly digitalizing worldwide
  • Cultural preservation — using digital tools to showcase Nepal’s heritage to global audiences

Each of these is a career path. Each is a skill set worth developing. And each is something you can begin exploring today, as a student.

Representing Academia on an International Stage

Presenting at an international conclave is no small achievement. It requires confidence, clarity, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a diverse audience, including educators, industry professionals, and innovators from across the world.

Brisha and Mahesh did not just submit a project. They stood in front of an international audience and articulated their vision for what Nepal’s tourism could look like in the digital age. That kind of experience, public speaking, professional presentation, and defending an idea under scrutiny is invaluable, and it is something no classroom assignment alone can fully replicate.

Academia is proud to have students who pursue these opportunities and carry the institution’s name with integrity and excellence.

A Challenge to Every Student Reading This

Innovation does not begin after graduation. It begins the moment you decide that what you are learning is worth applying.

Ask yourself: What problem in your community, your industry of interest, or your country could your skills help solve? You do not need a perfect product. You need curiosity, commitment, and the willingness to start.

Brisha and Mahesh started with an idea. They built it. They shared it with the world.

What will you build?

Academia congratulates Brisha and Mahesh on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to seeing where their innovation journey takes them next.
